Wear the damn dress! Be fabulous!

Hi everybody!

Today I would like to talk to you about something that is close to my heart and I was inspired to write about because of one of my FAV shows, RuPauls DragRace. If you don’t watch this, go do it! Now!! ❤
To me it is something I looked forward to every Tuesday (I know they air on monday, but I have to stream it!). So for you who don’t know the show, it is basically a competition to find the next Drag Queen superstar, where the contestants have to go through challenges in order to win a price and the title. The Queen of season 7 has been crowned by now, the season is over, what am I going to watch now…?

Anyway, I love art, fashion, artists, expressive and outspoken people, creativity… And this show just has it all. I especially loved this particular season because of a couple of the contestants had a style that was clearly very vintage inspired (There was even some Pinup Girl Clothing spotted!! <3) and made my heart beat fast and left me gasping for air several times. (Violet Chachki, Miss Fame and Pearl I LOVE YOU!!) To me, what these ladies do, transforming themselves with such dedication and expertise is complete art and so admirable.

And yes, I say ladies. Biologically we all know what it means to be a woman. But it goes so much further than that. Being a woman is also about the way you carry yourself, present yourself, about how you feel inside and what you want to be. I believe that people regardless of their gender should be able to call themselves or express themselves the way they want. Wether it is a transgender person, a drag queen, a drag king, male, female, whatever.

I have this huge admiration for anybody that dares to be themselves or whoever they want to be in this world that forces people more and more to become part of the mass, being the way they are supposed to be according to the standard and blending in with the crowd. I believe those people make the world a more beautiful place and they deserve just as much respect as people that do choose to be part of the standard. To each his or her own.

I so often hear from people how they admire the way I express myself through my style, that they love my outfits and how I dare to stand out of the crowd, but that they wouldn’t dare to. This can be because of response they might get or opinions that might be formed. That’s such a shame! Maybe it’s easier said than done for most people, but what is the big deal about being who you want to be and looking how you want to look? Are you really going to be held back from wearing something you LOVE because of other people forming an opinion about you? There will always be people judging, staring or forming an opinion, you can’t stop that. Don’t let this encourage you from being who and how you want to be. And looking from the other side, if you encounter somebody that looks out of the ordinary, give them the respect and dignity they deserve. Tell them when you think they look amazing, it will make their day, and just like your momma taught you, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. It would surely make the world a nicer place.

So what I am trying to say is that no matter who you are, what you are or how you look; do your thing, live your life, be kind to people, be happy, wear that lipstick! Look the way you want to! Don’t leave that amazing dress hanging in the closet, just waiting for a special occasion to happen… Life is short darling, you could die tomorrow, so wear the damn dress! Be FABULOUS!

Lots of love,

xoxo Miss Ginger Tulips
